In this episode, we visit ancient Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The site of Petra contains hundreds of stunning natural & man-made structures and was a key trade route throughout history. The key sites are the Treasury (Al Khazneh), the Monestary (Ad Deir), the Siq, the High-Place of Sacrifice and the Roman Soldier Tomb. Many old Roman structures also surround the area, including the massive amphitheatre and a series of temples.

The cultural history of the Nabateans, the carvers of Petra, combine influences from Egyptian, Greek and Roman designs – a testament to the importance of this key trade route throughout antiquity. A mix of art and religion guided the design of the numerous cave facades that make a journey through Petra unbelievable. Visitors quickly understand why Petra is now included as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
